Information for Patients

  1. Your Journey

a. Starting the process
Normally you will have been referred to us by your GP. You will have sought help about a concern with your hormones. Maybe you have had a scan that isn’t completely normal and have been referred for further investigation and advice as appropriate. We will try to get all the necessary information about your case before we even meet you.

Your referral will be reviewed by our team. We will ensure you are directed to someone with the right subspecialty expertise, who can see you as soon as possible at a time convenient for you.

b. The first visit
We have made our facility as calm and welcoming as possible. You will be seen by your consultant and together you will start to work out your pathway. The consultant will go through your medical history and concerns and then examine you. They may suggest further investigations which you will be able to discuss and decide together what is appropriate.

We can also offer remote consultations using telephone or video clinics. This is important in the new era of COVID-19 in which we are living. We want to ensure that everyone is as safe as possible and our pathways are established to reduce the risks as much as we can.

c. Next steps
After your first assessment you will have an idea from your consultant about what the next steps are. Maybe they have suggested further investigation – the majority of which you will be able to access locally and we will ensure that we arrange your tests in the most efficient for you. Your consultant will usually arrange to see you again for discussion of the results. We understand that this can be an anxious time and we strive to make sure that you are seen as soon as possible. Your consultant will discuss your case in full with you and explain everything so that you can together make a joint decision about how to proceed with your care.

Pricing & Payment

Whether you are using private medical insurance or paying for your treatment yourself, the process is simple and allows you to focus 100% on getting better.

Patients with private medical insurance

If you are planning on booking an appointment with one of our specialists, it’s important that you contact your insurance company beforehand to confirm your policy cover and obtain a preauthorisation number. We are recognised by all major health insurance companies; Aviva, AXA Health, Bupa, Cigna and Vitality.

If you are having any consultations, testing or a procedure we’ll be in touch beforehand to confirm the following details:

The name of your insurance company
Your membership or policy number
Your pre-authorisation code or claim reference number

These details mean that we can liaise directly with your insurance company for payment so that you can focus on your recovery.

Self paying patients:

It is the responsibility of the patient to make sure that they have enough funds available to cover the cost of consultation, or any necessary tests (our team assumes in good faith that's the case).

DISCLAIMER:

Note our team is unable to engage with patients who refuse to follow our standard financial procedures (pre authorisation by insurance companies prior to their appointment or our published fee structure). All our consultation and other charges are clearly stated on our website (urgent and anti social able hours are charged at a higher rate) and we advise patients to read this page and FAQ section prior to getting in touch with our admin team via text/mobile/email so you are clear prior to booking your appointment. Please make sure that you have read and understood all sections prior to getting in touch with us to book an appointment. For anything not clear please get in touch with us.
